Help! Do You Recognize Me??

Please, please, please microchip your pet!  This little girl was running around the streets lost and I.D.less.  I was on my way to walk one of my clients, when I saw her.  So, I pulled over, and she ran right up to me.  I asked if she wanted to go for a ride, and she hopped into my car.  She was obviously somebody's beloved pet.  However, she had no collar, no tags, no I.D.

You know how every neighborhood has that one neighbor who's dog always gets loose?  Well, I've had my share of run-ins with ours.  I dreaded knocking on her door.  But, after talking to another neighbor about who this dog could belong to, I was convinced it was probably hers.  So, I went to face her, and ask if this was indeed her dog.  Without opening the door, she peeked out enough to make her head visible through the glass storm door, and told me her daughter had her little dogs today, and she only had the big one, which was standing next to her, barking at me.  Bummer!

So, I took the dog to the vet to have them scan for a microchip.  As I stood there, pleading with whatever gods would listen, the scanner gave out an ominous, "Not Registered" beep again and again.  With a heavy heart, I took the little girl back to the car and drove around, on the look out for anyone suspicious of having just lost their pet.  They are generally easy to spot. They're the ones driving slowly, all car windows rolled down, looking left and right, and yelling out something like, "Max! Here Max! Here boy!"

I guess I'd better go put up some flyers.  But, before I do, I just want to say this:  collars and tags can come off your dog, even the best behaved dogs can be tempted to escape, so if you haven't already microchipped your pet, WHY NOT??? Do it now, before it's too late.  Next time, the little adventurer might not be so lucky.
